I believe Chisum was shot in Durango. I don't think Duke had a ranch in New Mexico, I know he had a couple of ranches in Arizona, the Bar 26 ranch and I can't remember the name of the other one off hand. There is a chapter in the new book John Wayne There Rode A Legend that focuses on these two ranches, I hope this helps you out.
